“In the United States, 38,000 sports-related eye injuries are reported each year, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.” That is a quote from a website. I was very surprised to learn that, so here are a couple safety tips for eyes.

Never wear your oakley baseball sunglasses or any other “dress” sunglasses for sports. They are not made to the same safety specifications as safety eyewear and could shatter or bend. That could leave you with pieces of lens or frame in your eye or face.

Of course, if you are doing outdoor sports, you will need to protect your eyes from the ultraviolet rays of the sun. UV light adds to the possibility of cataracts and macular degeneration. It can also cause tumors and a very painful sunburn of your eyes, called photokeratitis.
