On board ships at sea,  satellite tv on PC  is the only way to get reliable outside television signals to television sets on board. Cable would of course, be impossible to use unless the ship was in port and broadcasts from terrestrial stations will fail eventually when the ship is either out of signal range or when the curvature of the earth makes it impossible for direct signals to be had. As such, many ships and boats today make use of satellite tv on PC systems as a means of onboard entertainment. The same technology could even be applied to terrestrial vehicles.
